I had heard through the grapevine that I should stay away from 3, but I did not pay that advice any attention and I am glad I did not. I played through all three of the Syberia games for the first time last year. There's this broken down radioactive amusement park area that is worth the price of admission alone. Syberia 3 was beautiful to look at and it has some really awesome set pieces and story moments. My counterpoint is: Syberia 1 also ends on a cliffhanger, and no one complains about that now! My counterpoint to this is: there are frustrating puzzles in the first two games as well.įinally, the game ends on a total cliffhanger, so I am sure that did not help the reviews much. The puzzles themselves are for the most part fine, though there are a few that can be a tad frustrating. While Syberia 1 and 2 work best with mouse, 3 works best with a controller - but for some puzzles, I did find myself switching temporarily back to mouse for finer control. The cause for the Xbox exclusive delisting appears to be a change in publishing rights. The last capture shows that the game was available in early December of 2020 before its absence was pointed out to the site on April 30th, 2021. Kate's actress is great, and the other actors are fine, but there are some actors whose voice doesn't appear to match the character, and some actors were noticeably recast for multiple roles, so that is a partly fair criticism. Syberia was delisted on Xbox 360 and Xbox One between December of 2020 and April of 2021. I saw complaints about bad voice acting as well. Some of the negative reviews complained that the creators departed from the existing lore too much in the third game. For this reason, the game has a different feel than the first two games, but Syberia 3 was good in its own way. Syberia 2 kind of brought a conclusion to the Syberia story, so creators had to invent a new story for Kate. I think the main reason for Syberia 3's negative reviews was that the game was too different from Syberia 1 and 2. Syberia 3 gets an incredibly bad reputation for no real reason.
